BREAKING: The Los Angeles Lakers’ big contract decision will be made by LeBron James.

There is some doubt over LeBron James’ future with the Los Angeles Lakers, but the King has already made up his mind.

Although the ownership of the Los Angeles Lakers has changed, the team still needs a lot of improvement. Despite efforts by other NBA clubs to solve their problems, the storied NBA team still lacks a big man. LeBron James has had a lot of uncertainty surrounding him.

LeBron has a two-year contract with the team in 2024, and he has a player option for the following campaign. The King hasn’t picked one up in a long time, preferring to make fresh deals most of the time, but it appears that he is going to alter his methods.

“Meanwhile, there’s James, who sources believe will opt in to his $52.6 million player option, and the rest of the roster,” Dave McMenamin wrote for ESPN.

“While James has considered retirement every offseason since 2023, a source familiar with James’ thinking told ESPN that at this point, James is not entering next season with any certainty that it will be his last,” the reporter added.

Rob Pelinka and Los Angeles may find this problematic as they require maximum cap flexibility to bolster their team alongside James and just acquired superstar Luka Doncic. LeBron’s decision to exercise his player option will impede the roster’s need for significant surgery.

The King, who averaged 24.4 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 8.2 assists per game the previous season, is well worth the money. James will be focused on winning as many titles as possible before he quits, even though this sounds like a bit of an odd choice.
