Newcastle would pay around £45m to sign ‘underrated’ player from Tottenham
Alexander Isak is a top-class striker and Anthony Gordon is a brilliant winger, but, in terms of depth, Newcastle aren’t exactly injured.
Indeed, Callum Wilson has had injury problems for a long time, while Harvey Barnes is also struggling to stay fit as of late.
Fortunately, the transfer window is open, and Newcastle could look to add to their squad.
Speaking on NUFC Matters, Ben Jacobs has been discussing the Magpies’ transfer plans, and he’s named Tottenham Hotspur’s Richarlison as a player the Tyneside club could look at.
Richarlison had been linked with Saudi Arabia, but given Newcastle’s Saudi links, PIF may be keen on bringing him to St James’ Park instead.
Newcastle could go for Richarlison
Jacobs named Richarlison is a player Newcastle could go for.
The journalist says that Newcastle would pay around £45m for the Brazilian.
Richarlison has been described as ‘underrated’ in the past and Eddie Howe could be just the manager to get the best out of Brazil’s number nine.
“I think David and Newcastle could be one to watch, there are several clubs tracking him. I have spoken about Richarlison before, that is not a deal that Newcastle could look to do unless the price dropped significantly. Last summer Spurs wanted £60m, but Newcastle would only move for that kind of deal if it was £45m or under or if it’s a preferable structure, still one to keep a small eye on,” Jacobs said.
Richarlison record alongside Anthony Gordon
Richarlison hasn’t been at his very best since signing for Tottenham.
Indeed, Richarlison has been criticized quite a lot since joining Spurs, and, £60m does look like something of a waste of money from Tottenham.
Newcastle could offer Richarlison a new chapter, and, interestingly, if Richarlison did come to Newcastle, he’d be linking up alongside a former teammate in the shape of Anthony Gordon.
Indeed, Gordon and Richarlison played together for Everton, and Richarlison was often at his best when Gordon was on the pitch.
These two players clearly know one another’s game well, and this could be a smart signing from Newcastle as they look to get some backup for Alexander Isak.
Of course, Isak has been linked to Arsenal too, so Richarlison could also be a potential replacement should the Magpies need to find a new first-choice number nine too.
