Brentford are reportedly interested in signing Fiorentina’s Super Eagles-eligible right-back, Michael Kayode, but the Premier League club is only willing to make a move if the terms of the deal are favourable, according to Sky Sports UK.
The 20-year-old defender, an Italy U21 international, has been struggling to get playing time at Fiorentina this season.
Despite being a key player for the Italian club last season, Kayode has found himself relegated to a backup role behind Brazilian fullback Dodo.
As a result, Kayode is eager to make a move to a new club where he can get more opportunities to play.
Brentford FC, who have been long-term admirers of Kayode, are now considering a move for the dual-national fullback.
However, The Bees are not rushing into a deal, as the club’s management has made it clear they will only sign Kayode if the terms are right for them.
Negotiations between Brentford, Fiorentina, and another Premier League club, Brighton & Hove Albion, are ongoing.
The clubs are discussing a potential loan transfer with an option to buy Kayode for 17 million euros.
While Brentford’s interest in Kayode is clear, the club’s management is cautious about making a move. The club’s manager will want to ensure that any new signing will strengthen the team and fit into the club’s long-term plans.
As the January transfer window heats up, it will be interesting to see if Brentford can eventually secure a deal for Kayode.
He was also linked with a move to Tottenham and was formerly on the books of Juventus at academy level.
