Wayne County man wins $1 million on Wild Cherry lottery ticket

The 50-year-old winner had a daily ritual of buying scratch-off lottery tickets

A daily tradition turned into a life-changing moment for a Wayne County man after he won $1 million playing the Michigan Lottery’s Wild Cherry instant game.

The 50-year-old winner, who chose to remain anonymous, bought his lucky ticket at the Way Station in Plymouth. His daily routine of purchasing a scratch-off ticket took an extraordinary turn when he scratched off a $1 million prize at home.

“I like playing all of the different Lottery games, and I have a daily ritual of stopping at the Way Station to purchase a scratch-off ticket,” the player said. “I scratched the Wild Cherry ticket when I got home, and when I saw it was a $1 million winning ticket, I had to scan it on the app to make sure I was reading it right.

Once the app confirmed my prize, I woke up my wife to tell her the good news!”

The player visited Lottery headquarters to claim his prize and opted for a one-time lump sum payment of about $693,000. He plans to use the money to make home improvements, take a vacation, and enjoy a more comfortable lifestyle.

“The future is looking a lot brighter thanks to this prize,” the man said. “I feel extremely lucky to have won!”

The Wild Cherry instant game, launched in September, has already awarded more than $16 million in prizes. With tickets costing $10, the game offers prizes ranging from $10 to $1 million. More than $36 million in prizes remain, including two $1 million top prizes, 15 $10,000 prizes, and 157 $2,000 prizes.
