Saints Legend Drew Brees Reacts To Tragedy In New Orleans. And how his Family was devastated.

On Thursday morning, New Orleans Saints legend Drew Brees offered his thoughts on the senseless act of violence that went down in the French Quarter this week.

A man named Shamsud-Din Jabbar intentionally drove a pickup truck into a crowd on Bourbon Street on New Year’s Day, killing at least 15 people and injuring 30 more.

After crashing his truck in the French Quarter, he started firing shots at the police. The authorities revealed that he died during the shootout. The FBI is investigating this horrifying situation as an act of terrorism. Officials already found a black ISIS flag attached to his pickup truck.

As you’d expect, Brees is heartbroken for the families who lost a loved one to such an evil act.

He’ll be keeping those impacted by this tragedy in his thoughts.

“My heart hurts for the beautiful city of New Orleans and all those affected by today’s senseless violence,” Brees said. “Please shine a light on the souls that were lost so we may hold them and their families in our prayers.”

Brees also shared a message from his former teammate, Steve Gleason, on his Instagram Story.

“Inconceivable. Indescribable. These words are words I type on my tablet every morning,” Gleason wrote. “They help my eyes reach key sequences that can be difficult to reach. It’s like a pregame stretch….As I typed them this morning, I started crying. Michel had just told me about the attack in the French Quarter.

Those words poignantly capture how this year has started in New Orleans.I type a final word every morning that describes the people of our human family, specifically our community in the crescent city.Invincible.There is light in the darkness.

Hate doesn’t stop hate. Shine your light.”

Saints defensive end Cam Jordan wasted no time trying to help out his community, donating $25,000 to the New Year’s Day Tragedy Fund.

“I am joining @GNOFoundation and the @CityOfNOLA by donating $25,000 to the New Year’s Day Tragedy Fund to support victims of the attack,” Jordan wrote on social media. “Please consider donating to assist the families of those who lost their lives and those who were severely injured.”

Hopefully, current and former members of the Saints can help New Orleans heal together.
