I’ve Changed My Mind, Married At First Sight Season 18 Is Going To Be A Major Failure (Are The Experts At Fault?)

Married At First Sight season 18 has been stressing viewers out throughout the season, and with very little seeming like it will change in the next stretch of episodes, I’ve changed my mind on believing the season will be a success.

Throughout Married At First Sight’s run, there have been seasons that I’ve been more interested in than others, and there have been seasons that I’ve found myself moving away from. While I was hopeful that Married At First Sight season 18 would bring back the magic of previous seasons after a disastrous MAFS season 17, things have been sour.

Throughout the season, the couples that the Married At First Sight season 18 experts have matched up have been lackluster as they’ve moved through the experiment. The experts, Dr. Pepper Schwartz, Dr. Pia Holec, and Pastor Cal Roberson, have been struggling through the last few matchmaking cycles, pairing only two matches in six seasons.

While there’s some potential tension brewing between the MAFS experts, the issue appears to be less with their ability to work together and more with the way participants are cast for the show. The experts may be able to do better with a more open cast.

Even so, Married At First Sight season 18 has been difficult to handle.

The cast hasn’t been guided by the experts, so their relationships have been suffering. With the couples moving from their weddings into their honeymoons quickly, the experts weren’t present for the first stretch of their relationships, which made it tougher for them to navigate some early major issues.

The season, which has promised a franchise first MAFS season 18 cheating scandal, appears to be heading toward disaster as the couples aren’t making connections. I’ve changed my mind about MAFS season 18 and am struggling to stay invested.

MAFS Season 18 Was Meant To Revitalize The Series

MAFS Season 17 Was A Major Disaster

As MAFS seasons are typically filmed in an overlapping manner, the seasons aren’t traditionally meant to serve as a “fix” when the previous season doesn’t go well. Even so, Married At First Sight viewers were hopeful that the current season of the series would serve as a better look at the experiment than its predecessor. Married At First Sight season 17, which was filmed in Denver, brought together a cast of ten singles who were excited about the experiment, but after a runaway bride, a second wedding, and a historic scandal, the season wound up being infamous rather than beloved.

Throughout the season, eight of the ten participants were gaming the experiment, being disingenuous rather than sharing their authentic stories on Married At First Sight. With several of the couples working hard to dupe the experts, producers, and viewers by creating storylines they felt would show them in a good light, the MAFS season 17 cast struggled to keep the integrity of the experiment fully intact throughout the season.

By lying about their feelings, the events in their marriages, and throughout their counseling sessions, they painted a bad look for the show without any intention of cleaning up their mess.

MAFS Season 18 Will Feature The Series’ First Couple Swap

The Cheating Scandal Will End In A Swap

Throughout Married At First Sight season 18, there’s been the looming promise of some incredible drama. Before the season, Dr. Pia teased in a MAFS season 18 trailer that there would be a first for the franchise with a cheating scandal bringing two of the expertly paired MAFS couples to a screeching halt.

With two of the participants finding an attraction to each other outside their marriages, the cheating scandal has been expected to end in a couple swap, with the MAFS season 18 cast members who cheated entering a whole new relationship as the season starts to wind down.

While there hasn’t been much noise surrounding the cheating scandal and couple swap other than its existence being acknowledged by the show’s trailers, it’s still to come on MAFS season 18. With several couples struggling with their connections on the series, it’s still unclear who will be a part of Married At First Sight season 18’s couple swap.

Even so, MAFS viewers have been struggling to find themselves connected to any of the couples, knowing that things could change at any given moment. With the cheating scandal coming, the couples don’t feel solidified on Married At First Sight season 18.

I Believe The MAFS Season 18 Cheating Scandal Is A Failure For The Show

It’s Not Making Viewers Believe In The Process

While I’m interested in the drama that the MAFS couple swap will bring, the cheating scandal itself makes me feel like this season of Married At First Sight is a failure. As the experts have continually struggled to make matches, knowing that two of the participants felt so strongly connected to each other rather than the spouses that were chosen for them doesn’t give me confidence in the experts.

On top of that, I don’t feel like I have any confidence in the experiment still working out for the remaining Married At First Sight couples considering the drama they’re experiencing.
