Bizarre moment baseball star is stung by a bee hidden in his glove

Nolan Arenado was dealt a particularly tough hand during the the St Louis Cardinals’ game with the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday night.

Not only were Arenado’s side on the wrong end of a 7-2 scoreline, but the third baseman was also stung on the hand by a bee in a bizarre incident at the bottom of the eight inning.

Arenado was minding his own business at third when he saw bee fly past his ear.

“I wiped it with my glove and I thought it was gone,” Arenado said later. “I put my glove on – got stung. It was stuck in my glove and it stung me [on] my pinky.”

Arenado said after the game he was doing fine but bemoaned the bad fortune he and his inconsistent Cardinals team (74 wins, 74 losses) had encountered this season.

“Only in 2024, man,” Arenado said. “This year is … I don’t know how to describe it … 2024 has been a trip.”
