WNBA star Cameron Brink uploads hilarious video on drugs after surgery: “I go in and out of dimensions”
The Sparks player will miss the Olympics following her injury a month ago in the WNBA
What seemed to be a thrilling three-horse race for the WNBA Rookie of the Year between Caitlin Clark, Cameron Brink, and Angel Reese has taken an unexpected turn.
On June 18,Cameron Brink suffered an injury that has not only sidelined her from the remainder of the WNBA season but also cost her a spot in the USA’s 3×3 basketball team for the Olympics. This has taken some shine off what has been a record-breaking season in terms of ratings, merchandise sales, and arena attendance in the history of the WNBA.
Brink, who was injured during the Los Angeles Sparks’ 79-70 loss to the Connecticut Sun, had been averaging 8.1 points, 5.7 rebounds, and an impressive 2.5 blocks per game. Even after being out for a month, she remains fifth in total blocks with 35.
In good spirits after surgery
In a recent Instagram post, Brink shared a lighthearted video, still under the effects of anesthesia, showing her smiling and saying to her boyfriend and father, “I woke up and I’m so chilling, Yeah, I’ve been chilling, I’m in and out dimensions”. She humorously added, “My eyes feel like you’re going this way and that way,” clearly still feeling the effects of the medication, judge for yourselves.
Despite the setback, Brink has shown resilience and a positive attitude, crucial traits for an athlete facing such adversity. Missing more than half of her rookie season and the chance to compete in the Olympics is undoubtedly a tough pill to swallow, but Brink’s 6’3.5″ frame and potential suggest she could become a double-double machine, much like Angel Reese with the Chicago Sky (10-14).
Her recovery and return to form next season will be pivotal for her and the Sparks (6-19), who, alongside the Washington Mystics and Dallas Wings, are among the struggling teams this season.
The WNBA has paused for a month due to the Olympics, giving Brink some time to focus on her recovery.
Her absence has been deeply felt by the Sparks, and fans will be eagerly awaiting her return to see if she can pick up where she left off to help turn things around for her team and also continue to grow the east coast following, because in the west, with Clark and Reese, the future is in good hands.
