Nick Saban shares ‘biggest problem’ with Alabama football QB Jalen Milroe, LSU QB Garrett Nussmeier

Nick Saban sees two talented quarterbacks going head-to-head Saturday night in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

But when Alabama football takes on LSU at Tiger Stadium, the former Crimson Tide and Tigers coach sees one glaring problem in both Jalen Milroe and Garrett Nussmeier.

“That’s the biggest problem with these guys,” Saban said on ESPN’s “College GameDay.” “They want to make plays. But they don’t need to be shooting guard mentality. They need point guard mentality. Have 13 assists in a game and no turnovers. That’s good quarterback play.”

Nussmeier has thrown multiple interceptions in three of his last four games. He also has five games with multiple touchdown passes, and five games with at least 300 passing yards.

Milroe ended a streak of four games with at least one interception in the Crimson Tide’s 34-0 win against Missouri. Alabama’s win against the Tigers was Milroe’s first game since Sept. 23, 2023, where he scored only one touchdown.

Alabama kicks off against LSU at Tiger Stadium 6:30 p.m. Saturday on ABC.
