Blackburn’s Married at First Sight star “pushed to breaking point” by TV partner

Blackburn’s Married at First Sight star Amy Kenyon has issued a statement following online scrutiny of her relationship with ‘husband’ Luke Debono.

Viewers were quick to comment on their relationship, with online users often backing her husband Luke and his poor but hilarious choice of language.

The former St Wilfrid’s Church of England Academy pupil appeared on E4’s Married at First Sight, where strangers get married before meeting each other after being paired with the help of expert analysis.

She tied the knot with 30-year-old Luke but concerns about his overly-flirtatious nature and persistent lying led to the eventual breakdown in their marriage.

Appearing dressed in all black, a nod to the funeral of their relationship, Amy ended the relationship and was disgusted by a comment made in the final vows.

In a recent interview with the Lancashire Telegraph Amy explained how she received hateful comments from trolls, but wasn’t letting them affect her experience.

In a post made on her Instagram Amy said.

“Some may call it savage, others may say it was justified.

“Just know that I will never apologise for my actions and I want you to know that what I did at final vows was for many reasons, things I had to deal with behind the scenes that you don’t know and probably never will.

“I am sad that you didn’t get to see the amazing parts of mine and Luke’s relationship and how much I supported him however, I do not owe strangers on the internet who think they know our story, an explanation as to why I did this, as I strongly believe my actions were justified.

“I am a very reasonable person and it takes a lot to push me to breaking point.

“I did this for all the strong women out there and for those who may not feel strong right now, remember that you have a voice.

“You can stand up for yourself, you can say no, and you don’t have to let anyone deceive & pull you along for the ride, just because they’re attractive and charming.

“My husband might have fooled the nation, but he was never going to fool me.

“I wish him all the best in his future sought-out acting career.”
