Angel Reese Loses $100K Bet to Shaquille O’Neal in Hilarious Free-Throw Challenge, Bond Remains Priceless!

As the saying goes, “A fool and his money are soon parted,” but in this case, Angel Reese might just be a laughing fool with a heart of gold. The WNBA star recently found herself in a hilarious showdown with none other than Shaquille O’Neal.

There she jokingly wagered $100,000 on whether he could sink a free throw. Spoiler alert: the stakes were high, and so were the laughs! In a cheeky Instagram Story, Reese threw down the gauntlet, saying, “$100,000 dollars if you make this shot. Let’s see.”

With a grin that could light up a stadium, Shaq—who’s not exactly known for his free-throw prowess—nailed the shot, leaving Reese in stitches. The gym erupted with cheers and gasps, proving once again that with Shaq, you never know what’s coming next.

“Guess I owe him $100k,” she quipped, adding a crying emoji to the clip, her laughter ringing out like music. And with a NIL valuation of $1.8 million, she can certainly afford a little friendly wager, even if it means breaking the bank for “Uncle Shaq.”

A Bond Like No Other

The duo was in a vintage gym that looked straight out of a sports movie, complete with old-school banners for Mount Carmel Volleyball hanging in the rafters (via NY Post). Reese and O’Neal’s bond has blossomed since her days playing under coach Kim Mulkey at LSU.

There, she led the Lady Tigers to their first NCAA title, defeating Caitlin Clark and the Hawkeyes in 2023. Talk about a Cinderella story! Now, Shaq, who recently took the reins as president of Reebok basketball, has signed Reese as the brand’s first NIL athlete. It seems they’re not just shooting hoops together; they’re building an empire!

Despite the fun and games, it’s been a tough stretch for Reese. She recently suffered a season-ending wrist injury during a game against the Sparks and had to undergo surgery for a fractured left wrist. Ouch! She missed the Sky’s last six games, and with a 13-27 record, the team will miss the WNBA playoffs for the first time since 2018.

That’s a bitter pill to swallow! Following the team’s tough decisions—including the firing of first-year head coach Teresa Weatherspoon—Reese expressed her heartbreak on social media. “Heartbroken” seems an understatement when you’re watching a season slip through your fingers.
