Dolphins Sign Former Steelers Running Back
The Miami Dolphins are pretty much set on offense already.
They currently have the most prominent group of speedsters on that side of the field.
But with the start of the regular season just a couple of weeks away from now and the final roster cuts still a week away, they have made another potentially impactful signing.
According to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, Mike McDaniel’s team has added former Pittsburgh Steelers running back Anthony McFarland Jr.
The 26-year-old entered the league as a fourth-round pick.
Thus far, he’s made 17 appearances in the league, including for the Steelers last season.
Throughout the course of his NFL career, McFarland has rushed for 146 yards on 42 carries, adding 11 receptions for 87 yards.
He was promising as a rookie back in 2020, rushing for 113 yards and hauling in 6 receptions for an additional 54 yards.
Needless to say, he’s going to have his work cut out for him to make the roster.
The Dolphins already have two legitimate starters in Raheem Mostert and De’Von Achane, and they are also reportedly quite high on another speedster like Jaylen Wright.
This team has the most entertaining offense in the game, and as such, standards should be particularly high for anybody else trying to join the party.
Then again, we’ve seen crazier things happen in this league, and McDaniel knows that his coaching seat could get significantly hotter if his team continues to struggle against winning teams.
