After initially agreeing to a two-year contract, forward Sharn Freier has extended her stay in Australia by signing a new contract with Brisbane Roar.

Having signed with Roar for the 2020–21 campaign, Freier has had an incredible off-season, having made her Olympic debut against Germany, scored the first goal in Australia’s ‘B’ International versus Canada, and made her senior debut for the Matildas against Mexico in April.

In addition to winning Player of the Year (Kate McShea Medal), Freier also won Player’s Player, Player’s Player, and Fans’ Player of the Year at Roar’s annual Season Awards Night.

Regarding the contract extension, the forward stated, “I’m thrilled to be returning to Roar.” My home is in Brisbane, and I like performing here every week for the incredible crowd.

She told brisbaneroar.com.au, “It’s always a privilege to wear the orange jersey and I’m excited to get the opportunity to help the team build from last season.”

The youthful forward, who started in all 22 games for Roar and finished the 2023–24 season with two goals and five assists, will want to improve in the off-season in order to aid Roar in the 2024–25 campaign. Both the Player of the Year and the Fans’ Choice Award.
