Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi have stepped down from Newcastle United as they’ve done their expected jobs.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Pete O’Rourke suggested Saudia Arabia’s PiF will have bought out the husband and wife duo at a “healthy price” and will continue to plough huge investment into the club.
Staveley and her husband have sold their six per cent stake in the club, leading to PIF taking further control, which works out “nicely for both parties.”
PIF now owns 85 per cent of the north east giants, and Staveley and Ghodoussi are standing down from all of their club positions at the same time.
O’Rourke suspects that they will have been bought out at a “healthy price,” and the focus will now shift to what’s next for Newcastle.
Staveley was involved with the Magpies for almost three years after she initially brokered the takeover from Mike Ashley.
