Northern Ireland goalkeeper delighted to sign for ‘massive club with huge ambition’
Northern Ireland goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell says he’s delighted to be part of a Birmingham City revival mission.
The Blues suffered relegation to League One but are hungry to hit back and the 27-year-old has agreed terms on a four-year contract.
Peacock-Farrell was on loan at Danish side Aarhus but now he has left Burnley to link up with City in a permanent move.
After helping Aarhus to finish fifth in the Danish Superliga and keeping 11 clean sheets in all competitions, the former Leeds United stopper is excited at this new chapter in his career.
“I am absolutely delighted. First of all, I am really happy to be here,” he told the club.
“It is a massive club with some huge ambitions for the coming years and to be a part of that is something that I had to come and do.
“I love playing for something where you have got the pressure – and we will have that pressure and expectation.
“We are at the start of a journey, a very, hopefully, positive journey, and I want to be a part of that to achieve the goals and ambitions that the club have and they align with myself.”
Peacock-Farrell featured in both the Premier League and Sky Bet Championship for Burnley, helping the Clarets claim the 2022/23 second-tier title by amassing 101 points.
This followed a loan move to Sheffield Wednesday when the Owls reached the Sky Bet League One play-offs and he found another temporary home last term with his former Leeds boss Uwe Rosler in Denmark.
Peacock-Farrell, who has earned 46 Northern Ireland caps, will team up with stopper Ryan Allsop under new boss Chris Davies.
“I have had it on a couple of occasions now, I had it with Vincent (Kompany) and then under (Marcelo) Bielsa at Leeds, so it is something I am accustomed to. It is a great style of football and, hopefully, something we can do here as well,” said Peacock-Farrell.
“I think it is key to have a good goalkeeper’s group so I am really happy with that.”
Peacock-Farrell’s move comes just a few days after his Northern Ireland team-mate Josh Magennis joined Exeter City in a one-year deal.
