Mississippi State women’s hoops draws road game at Georgia Tech ACC/SEC challenge
STARKVILLE — Mississippi State women’s basketball will once again participate in this year’s ACC/SEC challenge.
The Bulldogs, in the second year of the event, drew a road game at Georgia Tech set for Dec. 4, as this year’s opponent, according to a program spokesperson
Last season, Mississippi State hosted Miami (FL), falling, 74-68, marking the team’s first loss of the year.
Mississippi State leads holds a 5-1 advantage over the Yellow Jackets, including an 85-47 victory at The Humphrey Coliseum in the WBIT. The Bulldogs have not played in Atlanta sincr the 2006 season.
The Yellow Jackets, coached by Nell Fortner, finished last season with a 17-16 overall record. They have not made the NCAA Tournament since the 2021-22 season
Mississippi State’s game against Georgia Tech fills in another piece to the Bulldogs’ non-conference slate.
Through a public records request, GenesPage.com has reported that Mississippi State currently has scheduled home non-conference games against Belmont (date to be determined), Memphis on Nov. 7, Alabama State on Nov. 10, Mercer on Nov. 20 and South Carolina State on Dec. 29.
The Bulldogs will also participate in the Orlando Invitational against Jacksonville University. The multi-team event, beginning Nov. 29, will also feature Louisville and South Florida, with each team playing two games.
Mississippi State’s Southeastern Conference opponents for 2024-25 have already been announced, with the Bulldogs hosting Alabama, Arkansas, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Texas, Texas A&M, Auburn and Oklahoma. They will travel to Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, LSU, Missouri, Tennessee and Vanderbilt.
Mississippi State, in its third year under Purcell, will look to return to the NCAA Tournament after missing last season. The Bulldogs advanced to the WBIT quarterfinals before losing to Penn State.
