Indeed, while Newcastle have already brought in Lloyd Kelly from Bournemouth, that was obviously on a free transfer.
Quite whether or not they will be able to complete another deal before selling someone remains to be seen of course but FFP regulations require a balancing act.
The prospect of having to cash in before spending again was first raised back in January, though obviously the hope is that neither Alexander Isak nor Bruno Guimaraes will depart.

One of the other big names being linked with a move away is Yankuba Minteh.
There is believed to be a reluctant acceptance at the club that the 19-year-old winger may need to go in order to raise funds, albeit not everyone at Newcastle is on board with that.
However, needs must at times and now some insight from Minteh’s camp has emerged.
Minteh obviously hasn’t played a game for Newcastle yet, having spent last season on loan with Feyenoord – a period in which he excelled.
However, according to The Chronicle, the teenager has accepted he may never get a chance to build a career on Tyneside.
Minteh is believed to have been surprised that he could be sold this summer but will only leave for a project he deems good enough for the next step in his career.
