GMB’s Susanna Reid’s defiant 7-word statement on being single and ’emotional’ home life

Good Morning Britain presenter Susanna Reid has spoken out about her home life as a single mum – and how raising her three sons can be emotional, in a new interview

In a recent interview, TV host Susanna Reid discussed her thoughts on raising her three sons while unmarried.

From her previous 16-year partnership with former BBC sports writer Dominic Cotton, the Good Morning Britain anchor is mother to Sam, 22, Finn, 20, and Jack, 18 years old. Currently, two of her boys are at home with her.

While Susanna and Dominic remain friends as well as co-parents, Susanna, in an interview with Bella Magazine, firmly commented that she is single and said: “I’m perfectly happy with my own company.”

She continued: “I talk to people all day. I have a terrific team, and I love my close knit family. When the boys leave home, I know that’s going to be challenging.”

So far it looks like they are content staying at home with her, as she added: “My youngest is about to finish school, so at every stage there’s going to be the last time. The last time I take him to school, the last time I pick him up from school, and that is quite an emotional feeling. I know lots of mums and dads feel like that. But my middle son still lives at home, and he’s at university. So they don’t seem eager to leave the nest.”

Paul has worked with celebrities including Vanessa Feltz and Chloe Burrows on previous series, but his ultimate guest would be Susanna: “I would love for us to have people on the show who ordinarily don’t show their private life. Someone like Susanna Reid would be great! She is someone who everyone holds in high esteem and everyone likes her, but no one really knows much about her private life. It’d be an honour to have Susanna on the show.

She rarely talks about her personal life but she did open up about the fact that she never had a great desire to get married.

She talked about her decision on Good Morning Britain in 2021: “It was a personal choice. It’s a bit of an old-fashioned idea that children are ‘illegitimate’ if you’re not married
