F1 Rumor: Team Offers Carlos Sainz Game-Changing Four-Year Contract

Carlos Sainz’s future Formula 1 move is gaining a huge amount of attention after it was confirmed he would be replaced at Ferrari in 2025 by seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton. Adding fuel to the ongoing rumors are reports that the Williams F1 team is actively pursuing the Spanish driver with a multi-year contract offer for 2025. With the sport on the verge of significant regulatory changes, the move signals Williams’ efforts to cement a stable driver alongside Alex Albon through 2026. This ambition is echoed by James Vowles, the team principal of Williams, who disclosed his intent to secure two “world-class drivers.”

The context of Sainz’s contract offer is steeped in the broader dynamics at play within the F1 paddock. Notably, Red Bull Racing’s recent confirmation to extend Sergio Perez’s contract—despite varied reviews of his performance—has markedly influenced Sainz’s options. This development narrows his prospects among the top teams, particularly as Mercedes turns its focus towards nurturing talents like Kimi Antonelli.

Amid these shifts, Sainz commented on his future to ESPN in Canada:

“The only thing I can tell you is there is nothing locked in. I’ve seen reports, I don’t know if it’s in Spain, people saying I’ve signed

“I look at those things and it makes me laugh because I remember seeing reports three months ago that I had signed for Mercedes, reports that I had signed for Red Bull. Now obviously those places are not going to happen.
