Chase Hunter will return to Clemson Men’s Basketball for his sixth season of eligibility.

Hunter had been exploring his options with the NBA Draft. He maintained his eligibility in case he preferred to return to college basketball.

Today was the deadline for withdrawing and returning to Clemson.

Hunter will be the veteran leader of the team on the court for head coach Brad Brownell.

Hunter will be joined in the starting lineup by Ian Schieffelin and Chauncey Wiggins, both of whom return from last year’s squad that advanced to the Elite 8 before losing to Alabama.

Those three will probably be joined by two transfers: Jaeden Zackery from Boston College and Viktor Lakhin from Cincinnati.

The Tigers will also be adding Myles Foster from Illinois State and Christian Reeves from Duke. Additionally, Jake Heidbreder transferred into the program last summer from Air Force but was unable to play due to injury. He will be active for the first time this season.

Brownell had previously stated that he thought Hunter would decide to withdraw from the draft and use his extra COVID season of eligibility.

Hunter averaged 12.9 points per game last season, along with 2.6 rebounds and 3.2 assists. He started the season a bit slow as he adjusted to the presence of Joe Girard in the lineup, but by the NCAA Tournament Hunter had found his groove.

Hunter is 6’-4” and 200 pounds. He is from Atlanta, Georgia. His brother, Dillon, is a rising junior with the Tigers.

With Hunter’s return, it is unlikely that we will see any more additions or departures from the Clemson Men’s Basketball roster before next season.
