WNBA: CHENNEDY CARTER RESPONDS TO CAITLIN CLARK CLASH WITH DOMINANT DISPLAY AS CHICAGO SKY SUFFER DEFEAT
Chennedy Carter made the headlines for the right reasons on Tuesday night after her impressive performance from the bench for the Chicago Sky against the New York Liberty in the WNBA. However, the 25-year-old’s strong showing was not enough to prevent the Sky from succumbing to defeat against the New York Liberty. Elsewhere, there were wins for the Connecticut Suns and the Seattle Storm.
Chennedy Carter answered her critics by starring from the bench for the Chicago Sky against the New York Liberty, after an incident with Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark at the weekend.
Carter was heavily criticised after a flagrant foul on Clark on Saturday, but responded with a fine individual display to take 16 points in 26 minutes, which wiped out New York Liberty’s first-quarter lead on Tuesday night.
The 25-year-old received huge backlash as she body-checked and subsequently pushed Clark to the ground, as her team-mate Angel Reese appeared to celebrate that action from the bench.
Despite her exploits on Tuesday, it would prove to be a disappointing night from a team perspective, as New York roared their way to an 88-75 win and seal a fourth consecutive victory.
Liberty simply had too much firepower for the Sky on the night, as Breanna Stewart got a season-high 33 points and Sabrina Ionescu added a further 24.
New York took a 31-15 lead after a commanding first-quarter performance, but Chicago made it interesting by outscoring them by 15 points in the second quarter to leave the score finely poised at 49-48 to New York at half-time.
