Virginia Tech Class of 2025 women’s basketball recruit sets announcement date

Monday night, Virginia Tech women’s basketball coach Megan Duffy secured her first big recruit in the Class of 2025 when Katie Sears committed to the Hokies. Sears, who is the No. 2 player in the state of North Carolina, was the conference Player of the Year at Watauga High School, where she averaged 30 points, 11 rebounds and six assists a game.

While that is a nice start to the Class of 2025, another one of Duffy’s recruits announced that she is going to announce her decision on June 5.

Kamryn Kitchen sets announcement date for June 5

Recently, Kamryn Kitchen released her Top 6 and it included Virginia Tech. Also making the list were Penn State, Virginia, Louisville, Illinois, and Marquette (where she was offered ironically by Duffy before she left to replace Kenny Brooks at Virginia Tech). The Charlotte, North Carolina native plays at Independence High School and is one of the best shooters in the class.

Last summer, she was one of 14 girls invited to the Steph Curry Shooting Camp and she shot over 50% from the field this season, including 42% from behind the arc.
