Newcastle launch £35m bid after transfer talks in London – Big claims from Spain
Speaking on MARCA radio today, Spanish journalist Pedro Morata is claiming that Newcastle have submitted a £35m bid after holding talks with the player’s agent Marian Khadour in London on Sunday night, leaving Valencia owner Peter Lim with a big decision to make.
After releasing a full report on the story, Morata adds that Newcastle have requested that Valencia respond to their offer within the next 72 hours. However, it’s not clear if the Georgian will pursue the move before Euro 2024 or wait until after the tournament in hope a club offering European football makes a bid.
Interestingly, MARCA reported last week that Valencia were demanding in excess of €40m (£34m) for the 23-year-old, meaning a £35m bid from Newcastle may be enough if these big claims from Spain are true.
It’s clear that Mamardashvili is someone Newcastle have watched and like, but are we really offering this sort of money for a young goalkeeper who can compete with and potentially replace Nick Pope when there’s investment needed at centre-back, on the right wing and up top?
