North Carolina landed its first transfer portal addition on Sunday in Belmont wing Cade Tyson. WHY TYSON’S COMMITMENT TOOK LONGER THAN EXPECTED
McMillan: “It’s one of those situations when you know something in your heart, you want to act on it. Parents and advisors always tell you not to rush things. That’s the way it played out with Tyson. We heard North Carolina was the school he had affection for and was very interested in once he hit the portal. However, he had a lot of suitors. What may have initially been a slam dunk lasted a little bit longer. Kentucky, Kansas and Tennessee showed interest. Once he got on UNC’s campus, he was like, ‘Oh, yeah. This is what I wanted. It’s right within my grasp. Why wouldn’t I take it?’ It’s a great start for UNC in the portal.”
