Louisville running back transfer Peny Boone is taking a visit to Kentucky Monday, according to a report from Rivals. Boone entered the transfer portal April 17 after joining the Cardinals from Toledo Jan. 5. UK had been in the mix during his first transfer recruitment. Boone has also heard from Georgia, Ole Miss, Washington, Colorado, Utah and is considering a return to Louisville, according to 247Sports’ John Talty.
247Sports’ Chris Fisher wrote the following about Boone back in December:
Boone (6-1, 242), who entered the transfer portal on Dec. 27, was named MAC Offensive Player of the Year after rushing for 1,400 yards and 15 touchdowns while averaging 7.2 yards per carry for the Rockets this season. He rushed for 443 yards and three touchdowns in 2022 and prior to that. Boone began his career at Maryland, where he rushed for 258 yards and two touchdowns.
Over four collegiate seasons, Boone has rushed for 2,101 yards and 20 scores while averaging 5.7 yards per carry. Boone, who will have one season of eligibility left, is ranked as the No. 5 running back and No. 64 overall prospect in the transfer portal by 247Sports.
Under head coach Mark Stoops, Kentucky has produced four straight 1,000-yard rushers in Boom Williams (2,511), Benny Snell (3,873), Chris Rodriguez (3,644) and Ray Davis (1,129).
In addition to Davis, who declared for the NFL Draft, and Ramon Jefferson, who is out of eligibility, Kentucky backup running backs JuTahn McClain and La’Vell Wright entered the transfer portal, meaning UK returns only senior Demie Sumo-Karngbaye (20 rushes, 139 yards, TD) and redshirt freshman Jamarion Wilcox in its running backs room in addition to signing 3-star prospects Jason Patterson and Tovani Mizell. The Wildcats added Ohio State running back transfer Chip Trayanum in the winter.
