Seth Trimble announced Tuesday that he’s leaving North Carolina and entering the transfer portal after two seasons in Chapel Hill. Inside Carolina analyst Sherrell McMillan offered insight into why Trimble entered the portal and what it means for the Tar Heels going forward on the Coast to Coast show.

“Trimble is a big loss for UNC on and off of the court,” McMillan said. “There’s potential for RJ Davis to come back. Ian Jackson is also coming in. For Trimble it was: if the opportunity wasn’t given to him by now, would it come eventually? That was the question that he and his family had for Hubert Davis… When the visions don’t align, that’s when you get a player entering the transfer portal.”

Trimble was an integral member of UNC’s rotation this season, earning sixth-man minutes thanks to providing elite perimeter defense and improved offense, which included bumps in scoring and shooting percentages.
