Leeds Rhinos will appeal the suspension imposed on captain Cameron Smith. Rugby League Live can reveal the Rhinos have made the move after the loose forward was charged for a late hit during their Super League victory over Castleford Tigers.

Footage of the incident has emerged on social media, which shows Smith involved in a tackle on a kicker. The footage shows Smith colliding with Danny Richardson as he kicks the ball downfield.

The incident has seen Smith receive a Grade B charge, with the forward’s disciplinary record resulting in him receiving the higher end of the sanction grade. However, the Rhinos, who have generally decided against appealing in recent times, have opted to go to an appeals tribunal, which will take place on Tuesday evening.
