For Hawkins, Oklahoma was listed alongside programs like Texas, Arkansas, Mississippi State and Texas State. His focus has since been narrowed to these five finalists as he’d inevitably approach this commitment date. Hawkins had mentioned previously that he hoped to get his decision finalized in early April, and that timeline has obviously tracked with his big day less than a week away.

For fans of the Oklahoma Sooners, the name is likely familiar. The son of former Oklahoma safety Mike Hawkins and younger brother of current Sooners’ quarterback Michael Hawkins, the youngest Hawkins is the next set to play college football. Will he follow in the footsteps of his father and brother? Nothing is definite but Oklahoma is working to make that the case.

Currently there is one 247Sports Crystal Ball prediction in regarding Hawkins. That lone prediction favors the Sooners with a confidence level set at seven overall out of 10. A lot of this has to do with not just Hawkins’ family ties to OU, but his relationship with the Sooners’ staff.

“”OU is definitely a place I am looking into,” Hawkins said. “Mainly because of the cornerbacks coach there, coach Jay Valai. I feel he can get people to the NFL and I am interested in that.”
