PIRATES NO LONGER INTERESTED IN MATSHEKE
Orlando Pirates pursued a deal for ex-Kaizer Chiefs star Darrel Matsheke in March despite rumours he was extending his Stellenbosch contract. However, the Cape Winelands side has since parted ways with the player. According to Soccer-Laduma, that has put the Buccaneers off the scent.
“There was interest from Pirates in the player (Matsheke) when he was playing for Stellenbosch. But after he was released from Stellenbosch in the way it happened, the move is now unlikely to happen,” said a source close to the publication.
Bandile Shandu, Miguel Timm, Sipho Chaine, Tapelo Xoki and Thabang Monare are all a single yellow card away from an automatic suspension. Their defeat to Sekhukhune and disappointing 1-1 draw with Swallows leaves Jose Riveiro’s men no longer in control of their destiny in the race to finish second in the league. In addition, Nkosinathi Sibisi will play no part for the Sea Robbers against Golden Arrows after his stoppage-time red card against the Dube Birds last time out.

With just eight games remaining in their DStv Premiership campaign, Amakhosi face an almighty scramble to finish inside the top eight and qualify for next season’s MTN8. They face Chippa next and could welcome back key defender Thatayaone Ditlhokwe. The Botswana skipper has been absent since October after dislocating his shoulder on international duty.
