What was your top takeaways from Texas Tech’s 80-67 loss to NC State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament?
Joe Yeager, Senior Writer: Texas Tech couldn’t handle NC State’s bigs one-on-one yet played them that way the entire game. I didn’t like the defensive gameplan.
Kenny Romero, Staff: The lack of depth and injuries finally caught up with them, they looked gassed.
Steven Chapman, Photographer: I felt neither Darrion Williams nor Warren Washington were 100% in their physical abilities and Warren Washington wasn’t ready from a mental standpoint. Tech has a lot of work to do this offseason to become a sweet sixteen program again.
Jarret Johnson, Publisher: The team was beat up and ran into a buzzsaw in North Carolina State. I was also surprised that in a season which saw the team respond to adversity and adapt/adjust to situations on many occasions do neither in that game.
Yeager: Given all the adversity, pretty impressive, and that probably bodes well for the future.
Romero: I would say the season was a success as they far exceeded my expectations for a first year coach with not much time to put together a roster.
Chapman: Tech far exceeded expectations from what we saw in the preseason as they got better as the season wore on. They faced a great deal of adversity but their chemistry and resiliency proved to be a huge asset for this team. Is that coaching or is it the type of players brought in? Whatever it is it needs to continue.
Johnson: I will remember this team for its resiliency and ability to adapt. It was also notable due to its efficiency and unselfishness on the defensive end. This was a great first impression by McCasland. What will he do for an encore?
