The Baltimore Ravens took a flyer on veteran Odell Beckham Jr. last season, paying him what amounted to $16 million for 35 catches, 535 yards and three touchdowns. But when you consider Beckham posted a career-best 16.1 yards per catch in the process, his season doesn’t look so bad. And the Pittsburgh Steelers could be on the hunt to add him to their ever-changing roster.
Pittsburgh has already added wideout Van Jefferson as new general manager Omar Khan continues to overhaul the Steelers’ roster through free agency, and it seems the top wideout priority for Khan is former Bengal Tyler Boyd. But if Boyd can’t be acquired, The Athletic’s Mike DeFabo thinks Beckham could be the next target for the Steelers.
DeFabo then listed Beckham as another top option. There is a pattern emerging this offseason for Khan and the Steelers, as they’ve already signed two former Ravens in linebacker Patrick Queen and safety DeShon Elliott.
And after what many thought was a disappointing season for Beckham in Baltimore, let’s not lose the fact that he was the team’s second-leading receiver by yards. As Khan and the Steelers continue to add pieces in an attempt to compete with the Ravens for the AFC North crown, OBJ could be an important part.
