Running back DJ Oliver and offensive lineman Charlie Katarincic have left West Virginia’s football team, according to a source. 247 Sports was the first to report the story.
Oliver picked the Mountaineers over Air Force, Army, Central Michigan, Florida Atlantic, Middle Tennessee, Navy, South Florida, UAB, and others from Port Saint Joe High School in Florida. In five games this season, Oliver carried for 47 yards and a score on 12 runs.
Head coach Neal Brown appreciated Oliver’s potential and pondered playing him in the closing weeks of the season, but decided to wait until the bowl game, where participating does not count toward eligibility.
Katarincic suffered injuries during his first two years in the program, which slowed his growth.
