The Florida Gators are coming off a 2024 cycle where they signed a productive running back out of the state of Mississippi. In the 2025 cycle, there is another productive name on the Gators board from that state early on. That is Quitman (MS) four-star running back Akylin Dear. He last visited Gainesville this past spring, during a tour of visits that included several of the top prospects in the state of Mississippi.
With the recruiting ‘Dead Period’ set to end in a few weeks, Dear is looking to get out and about to some college campuses. One of the first visits on the schedule for the 6-foot-1, 200-pounder will be to the University of Florida. The dates for his planned time on campus stretches from March 7th through the 9th. It’s also very likely Dear gets back to Florida sometime in April along with a few other talented names in the state of Mississippi. He’s set to be at UF in the early part of March along with his parents.
Florida offered last spring, and he’s been a name on running back coach Jabbar Juluke’s radar ever since. He’s coming off a Junior season where he accounted for just over 2000 rushing yards and 27 rushing touchdowns. He also threw three touchdowns through the air as well. He’s been a workhorse at the prep level, and is someone the Florida staff has mentioned being a fit for their offensive scheme.
