The Atlanta Hawks have struggled to play consistently this season. They’re on the verge of competing for a play-in place or missing the postseason altogether. They are below.500, despite going 6-4 in their previous ten games. According to Kevin Chouinard of Hawks.com, the Hawks received great news on Tuesday when it was reported that Clint Capela is making progress toward a comeback from an adductor injury that has held him out of the lineup.

Clint Capela has been out of the Hawks lineup since February 3 due to an adductor ailment. He has missed the past five games. Prior to then, he was the Hawks’ starting center. Capela will miss his sixth consecutive game on Wednesday against the Charlotte Hornets, according to Chouinard, although he is anticipated to return to practice after the All-Star break.
Capela has started in all 47 games he’s played in this season at a little under 26 minutes per game. He had been averaging 11.5 points per game, 10.6 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 1.5 blocked shots with splits of 57.5 percent shooting from the field and 64.9 percent shooting from the free throw line.

Capela, who began his NBA career with the Houston Rockets as the No. 25 overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, is now in his fourth season with the Hawks after being traded by the Rockets in 2020. Capela’s name was mentioned in trade rumors leading up to the NBA Trade Deadline, but the Hawks decided to keep their starting center despite his injury.
