The Miami Dolphins have hired a former member of the Detroit Lions’ defensive staff as their secondary coach and passing game coordinator.
According to NFL Network, Brian Duker, who spent three seasons in Motown, will leave to pursue a new opportunity with the AFC South powerhouse franchise.
Duker served as the Lions’ defensive backs coach in 2023, working with Aaron Glenn on his defense.
Duker first worked with the safeties before being assigned to a bigger role with the defensive backs as the 2022 season advanced.
Townsend, 48, was the defensive passing game coordinator and defensive backs coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars the previous two seasons.
The seasoned defensive coach has previously worked with the Chicago Bears (2019-21), New York Giants (2018), Tennessee Titans (2016-17), and Arizona Cardinals (2011-12).
Townsend also won two Super Bowls with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
