The Jacksonville Jaguars are one of a few clubs that will have to make judgments on many fifth-year options this summer, including Trevor Lawrence and Travis Etienne. For the previous two offseasons, the Jaguars have publicly discussed the possibility of extending Lawrence’s deal early, while Etienne is set to enter free agency after 2024. How much would it cost the Jaguars to pick up Lawrence’s or Etienne’s fifth-year option by this year’s May 2 deadline? In an assessment of each choice by The 33rd Team, the numbers are clearly stated: Lawrence would cost $21,978,000 in 2025, while Etienne would come in with a cap hit of  $5,955,000.

Lawrence finished the season completing 65.6% of his passes for 4,016 yards, 21 touchdowns and 14 interceptions, along with seven lost fumbles. Lawrence also missed his first career start as he dealt with four different injuries, with Lawrence seemingly having to limp to the finish of the season. Lawrence completed 370 passes. He is the second quarterback in franchise history to record at least 300 completions in three consecutive seasons, and the only quarterback in franchise history to start his career with three seasons of at least 300 completions. Lawrence recorded at least 20 completions in 14 games last season. His 14 games of 20 or more completions ranked third in the AFC. In 2023, Lawrence averaged 7.1 yards per pass attempt. He ranked fifth among quarterbacks in the AFC with at least 450 pass attempts.
