Furman University defensive lineman Bryce Stanfield was hospitalized after having a medical emergency during a workout this week, according to the school. Stanfield was transported to the hospital on Wednesday following an incident while working out and is still on life support. “The thoughts and prayers of Furman’s entire football program and university community are with Bryce and his family at this time,” Furman football coach Clay Hendrix stated.

He played in all 13 Paladins games last season, totaling 13 combined tackles, four tackles for loss, and 2.5 sacks. Furman won the Southern Conference football championship for the first time since 2018, when it split the trophy. Furman led the Southern Conference in various defensive statistics, including scoring (allowing 18.2 points per game), run defense, sacks collected, and overall defensive productivity.
