QB, Senior Bowl 2024 Coaches from South Carolina gave Spencer Rattler their seal of approval because of his mature outlook. Spencer Rattler is still making an impression at the Senior Bowl.

Quarterback Spencer Rattler of South Carolina raised his draft profile for the 2024 NFL Draft by being one of the best players all week at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama. Rattler was picked by his defensive teammates to be the best quarterback on the American squad. In the Senior Bowl on Saturday, he started and completed all four of his throw attempts for 65 yards, including a touchdown pass to Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint, a wide receiver for Georgia, in the back of the end zone for a gain of 29 yards.

“Rattler on that first drive was excellent,” NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah said on the broadcast. “I do want to mention on him, I reached out to Shane Beamer, his coach at South Carolina. He mentioned to me how much of an impact Jalen Hurts had on him during his time at Oklahoma and how he arrived at South Carolina humble and hungry and really worked. Was a two-time captain there, great teammate. Had a ton of injuries on the offensive line this year. They had six injuries on their offensive line. Said the kid never complained, all he did was try and encourage and help on the new pieces they had in place there.

“He did a Netflix show when he was 17 years old and maybe didn’t come off the way he wanted to. He was 17 years old. Everything I’ve got out of South Carolina, including his head coach, is giving him a stamp of approval.”

Rattler had favorable reviews during Senior Bowl week, attracting the attention of scouts and members of the media. The former five-star recruit faced off against Michael Penix Jr., Bo Nix, and other potential first-round picks in the NFL Draft. Rattler has improved to a “early Day 2 grade” according to an NFL Draft analyst who spoke with 247Sports on Thursday. This suggests that he may go in the second round and be regarded as one of the better players at his position.

Rattler spent the past two seasons as the starting quarterback at South Carolina after transferring in from Oklahoma. The 6-foot-1, 218-pound passer made 42 combined starts between both schools. He posted a combined 28-14 record as the starter. Rattler completed 68.5% of his passes for 10,807 yards and 77 touchdowns with 32 interceptions. He also rushed for 410 yards and 16 touchdowns on 297 carries.

Rattler rated as a five-star prospect coming out of Phoenix (Ariz.) Pinnacle in the 2019 recruiting class. He ranked as the No. 1 pro-style quarterback and No. 9 overall recruit regardless of position. Rattler initially enrolled at Oklahoma over additional offers from Alabama, Kentucky, Miami (Fla.), Notre Dame, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, Utah and others.
