BREAKING: Longtime NFL Special Teams Coordinator Officially Joins South Carolina’s Staff
Longtime NFL assistant Joe DeCamillis is officially the new special teams coordinator for the South Carolina football department.
For Shane Beamer and the South Carolina football team, the offseason has been hectic. Not only have they added talent to their roster from the transfer portal and the high school rankings, but they have also changed around their coaching staff. Three coaches have left the Gamecocks, each for a different reason: TE coach Jody Wright, Special Teams Coordinator Pete Lembo, and RB coach Montario Hardesty left the program to take head coaching positions.
Beamer has already found his replacements for Hardesty and Wright in a sense with the hires of RB coach Marquel Blackwell and WR coach James Coley. He’s now officially filled in the vacancy left by Pete Lembo as well, as the University of South Carolina’s Board of Trustees officially approved a contract for long-time NFL Special Teams Coordinator Joe DeCamillis on Monday evening.
DeCamillis will also possess the title of associate head coach, and his contract will runs through the end of 2026 with an annual salary of $800k annually.
