One of Florida State’s top out-of-state targets regardles of position is Lovejoy (Tex.) four-star wide receiver Daylan McCutcheon.
Early on in his recruitment, the Seminoles are battling the likes of Ohio State, Florida, Tennessee, Texas, USC and UCLA.
Entering the pre-draft process, Florida State defensive tackle Braden Fiske was considered an intriguing candidate as an early Day 3 (Rounds 4-7) pick with the upside to work himself into the Day 2 (Rounds 2-3) conversation.
It appears that Fiske took strides in fulfilling his potential with a stellar showing during the week of practice at the Senior Bowl. Fiske was routinely difficult for opposing linemen to stop in one-on-ones and he was named to Daniel Jeremiah’s list of the top 10 NFL draft winners from week of practice.
“After watching Fiske make play after play the last few days, I’m really looking forward to doing more work on his game film,” Jeremiah wrote. “He doesn’t have ideal length (31-inch arms), but he showed excellent first-step quickness in practices and knows how to use his hands to his advantage. He was disruptive all week long.”
Fiske, in his lone season at FSU, amassed 43 tackles, 9.0 TFL and 6.0 sacks as a starter. Regarded for his burst and energy, the Western Michigan transfer got progressively more productive throughout the season and finished his FSU tenure with 5 QB Pressures and 3.0 sacks in the ACC Championship Game against Louisville. All six of his sacks came in his final four games of the season.
National Signing Day is around the corner, and we’ve tapped insider sources for information on every ACC team’s most impactful recruit from the class of 2024. Miami leads the conference in the 2024 Recruit Football Team Rankings with the No. 3 overall class, but the Hurricanes’ top-rated recruit, five-star DL Justin Scott, is not listed as the team’s most impactful recruit next fall, one of many surprises on this list.
Clemson joined Miami as the only ACC program to sign multiple five-star recruits for the 2024 cycle, but the Tigers’ generational defensive commitment made their selection easy. Florida State rounds out the trio of ACC teams to assemble top-25 classes, while North Carolina finished just outside at No. 26 overall.
Stanford signed the No. 6 class in the ACC, the highest of the conference’s three newcomers. Cal finished No. 12 and SMU ranks last with just 10 total commitments, the fewest in the conference by three.
