Fayetteville, Arkansas — Evangel Christian in Shreveport, Louisiana, has been a talent hotspot for decades. While north Louisiana hasn’t received much attention during the Sam Pittman period, Arkansas has rekindled interest among players north of Interstate 20.
Peyton Houston, a quarterback in the Class of 2027, has emerged as the best prospect at the position this cycle. He is a dual-threat quarterback with lofty objectives and aspirations for himself. The return of Bobby Petrino as Arkansas’ offensive coordinator has increased recruitment interest among high school quarterbacks. Since moving to Fayetteville in November, Petrino has done nothing except travel the country in search of game-changing talents.
While 2027 may appear to be a long time away, it is actually rather quick in the world of recruitment. Nowadays, college programs attempt to get into schools around the country as soon as possible.
Obviously, Petrino will always be a popular choice for young quarterbacks seeking for a shot at the next level. An Arkansas offer provides Houston the opportunity to join a successful list of passes.
“It would be a huge opportunity to play for a coach who produced a Heisman winner, league MVP, and an All-SEC quarterback,” Houston said in a statement.
He considers himself a pocket passer who can use his legs when necessary, comparable to Texans quarterback CJ Stroud. The former Ohio State standout also credits his religion ‘through thick and thin’ for helping him establish his footing in the NFL.
“I love [Stroud’s] approach and attitude to the game,” he remarked.
One interesting detail about Houston is that former LSU great linebacker Devin White had a significant part in his ambition to be a collegiate athlete.
