Micah Mazzccua transfer is announced by Nebraska.

Earlier this month, Nebraska received a commitment from Micah Mazzccua, who originally chose Florida in 2023 but returned to the recruiting process this winter and is now coming to Lincoln.

Nebraska formally announced Mazzccua on Tuesday.

Mazzccua spent one season with the Gators after transferring from Baylor. This past season, he started 11 of the Gators’ 12 games at right guard. He played 743 snaps for the Gators in 2023.

The Huskers were interested in Mazzccua’s recruitment last offseason, but the lineman ultimately decided to move to Florida.

Mazzccua was a two-year starter at Baylor before joining the Gators for one season. He was regarded as a top-tier run-blocker from the left guard position, finishing tenth among Power 5 guards with a 78.5 run-blocking score in 2022. According to Pro Football Focus, he also had 14 big-time blocks that season, which tied for second among all guards in the nation.

Nebraska returns several offensive linemen with starting experience, but Mazzccua is anticipated to rapidly transition to an interior line position and help bolster an offensive line that improved from a disappointing 2022 campaign.

Mazzccua was listed as the No. 108 interior offensive lineman in the 2020 recruiting class coming out of Baltimore (MD) St. Frances Academy.

Mazzccua’s brother, Maurice Mazzccua, was a walk-on running back at Nebraska last season.

The lineman joins wide receiver Jahmal Banks, running back Dante Dowdell, defensive back Blye Hill, wide receiver Isaiah Neyor, and linebacker Stefon Thompson in the Huskers’ 2024 transfer class.
