A year ago, the Jacksonville Jaguars had few questions heading into the offseason. Yes, the Jaguars had contracts expiring with Evan Engram, Jawaan Taylor, and Arden important, but the team was expected to retain almost every starter and important role player. This time, however, the Jaguars have more problems than answers as they begin the 2024 offseason.

“Last year, we didn’t have much cap room to deal with. We spent the first two years in free agency. Are we going to become more aggressive? “We believe we have a good nucleus of players,” general manager Trent Baalke stated on Thursday. “But this club will look different when we strap it up in April and begin the offseason training. The team will appear different. Our squad, like every other National Football League club, will appear different. How much different depends on a number of talks we’ll have over the next few weeks.

The Jaguars have some major pending free agents in Josh Allen and Calvin Ridley this offseason, but they also have a lot of uncertainties about other players’ contract statuses, including Cam Robinson, Brandon Scherff, Rayshawn Jenkins, Darious Williams, and others.

Does that imply that the Jaguars and Baalke will be more active this summer than last? Not exactly. On Thursday, Baalke justified his team’s lack of action during last year’s summer, although it is unclear what this means for the team’s future. “I don’t live with regret. That is not how I work. Are there decisions you look back on and think, ‘What if we had done this? What if we had done that? “Should’ve, would’ve, and could’ve all been beaten,” Baalke stated.

“You try your best; we believed we had a competitive football squad coming back. We still believe we have a competitive football squad returning. The season did not go our way. Four teams had gone a week ago. We defeated two of those opponents, lost a one-point game to another, and trailed by three points with four minutes remaining in the third quarter. We believed we had a competitive football squad. We didn’t win as many games as we hoped, and that is on all of us, including me. Look no farther than here. There are certain things we need to do; we realized this and are making the necessary modifications as we go.
