Brentwood Academy quarterback George MacIntyre selected the Tennessee Volunteers over Alabama last Monday. The No. 16 prospect in the 247Sports Composite Rankings raised Tennessee’s national 2025 position, and the team now has the No. 9 recruiting class in the country. However, there is still work to be done. Tennessee has six pledges in the 2019 recruiting class, which means there are many more prospects on the board. They are following a similar timetable to the 2023 signing class, with blue-chip quarterback Nico Iamaleava choosing the Vols in March of his junior year, and many expected excellent talent to follow. Tennessee did sign numerous high-impact players, but its recruiting class ended 11th, despite expectations that it would be in the top five.

VolQuest’s Brent Hubbs spoke on 104.5 The Zone’s “Ramon, Kayla, and Will,” explaining why MacIntyre may have a greater influence on his recruiting class than Iamaleava due to geographical differences. If Tennessee plays its cards well in the coming months, MacIntyre’s in-state ties might be the deciding factor in multiple recruitments. “I believe he may have a greater impact than Nico did simply because he is inside the footprint, two hours and 20 minutes from college. So when Tennessee brings in some high-profile players, it’s simpler for him to travel to school, meet with them, and recruit them than it was for Nico.” Brent Hubbs from VolQuest discusses George MacIntyre.
