The Jacksonville Jaguars are allegedly recruiting two former New Orleans Saints assistants to their defensive staff.

According to Aaron Wilson of KPRC2, the Jaguars will hire Kris Richard and Cory Robinson to join defensive coordinator Ryan Nielsen’s staff. Robinson will teach cornerbacks, and Richard will have an unidentified title.

Nielsen coached Richard in New Orleans from 2021 to 2022, and Robinson from 2020 to 2022. Robinson was the assistant defensive backs coach in New Orleans, where he worked alongside Richard.

After not coaching in 2023, Richard interviewed for the head coaching position with the Las Vegas Raiders earlier this month. Last year, Richard interviewed with the Miami Dolphins and Denver Broncos for open defensive coordinator jobs, which were later filled by Vic Fangio and Vance Joseph, respectivel Before guiding a solid Saints secondary for two reasons, Richard was the Dallas Cowboys’ defensive backs coach and passing game coordinator in 2018-2019.Before that, Richard played with the Seattle Seahawks from 2010 to 2017, reuniting with his college coach, Carroll. Richard began as an assistant defensive backs coach in 2010, before being elevated to cornerbacks coach in 2011.

Richard served as defensive backs coach from 2012 to 2014, often known as the Legion of Boom period, and was widely credited with the Seahawks’ excellent secondary performance. Richard replaced Dan Quinn as Seattle’s defensive coordinator from 2017 to 2017, his first season as an NFL coordinator.

Furthermore, the Jaguars allegedly signed former LSU defensive coordinator Matt House as inside linebackers coach, providing Nielsen with a strong set of coaches in his first year as coordinator.
