NEW ORLEANS, La. (WLOX) – As the New Orleans Saints head into the offseason after missing the playoffs for the third straight year, all eyes are sure to be on the front office and players as the offseason unfolds.
The Saints wrapped up the regular season with a 9-8 overall record, finishing second in the NFC South to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. New Orleans controlled their own destiny for over half the season and even went into Week 18 with a chance to clinch the NFC South crown and a playoff berth, but a Tampa Bay win over the Carolina Panthers and a 17-9 victory for the Packers over the Bears would rule out a potential divisional title and wild-card berth for the Saints.
One thing head coach Dennis Allen said he has to take a closer look at is his aging roster, as he believes that the veteran presence is helpful, but is still looking to add some youth to the table.
”I think we certainly need to still add some young pieces to our roster,” Allen said. “I think there’s a good veteran presence here. I think there’s some veteran players that can still perform at a high level.”
“I think we also need to incorporate some more youth and talent, you know, on our team, and so as you do every year, and so we’ll we’ll look at ways in which we can do that.”
Regarding Allen’s future in New Orleans, he expects to be back, but changes are sure to be expected going into the 2024 season.
Next up for the Saints is the 2024 NFL Draft. They currently hold the 14th pick in the draft, so all eyes are sure to be on the front office going into the draft and free agency.
