Florida offensive lineman Micah Mazzccua on Wednesday announced his transfer commitment to Nebraska.

A rising fifth-year senior, Mazzccua will spend the final season of his collegiate eligibility with the Cornhuskers. He’ll join his brother, walk-on running back Maurice Mazzccua, in Lincoln, Neb.

Mazzccua occupied the role of starting right guard in all but one game during his lone year at Florida, only missing Week 4’s contest against Charlotte, due to half-game suspensions imposed by both the SEC and UF for his role in a post-game scuffle with Tennessee the week prior.

He took the field for 730 snaps offensively in 2023, grading out as an above-average run blocker and giving up three sacks in pass protection with those opportunities, according to Pro Football Focus.

Mazzccua’s imminent move marks his latest flirtation with the NCAA transfer portal. He utilized the service to join Florida in Jan. 2023 following three seasons at Baylor, where he signed as a consensus three-star prospect from the recruiting class of 2020.

He teased an exit from Gainesville before his Gators playing career even began, posing intentions to re-enter the transfer portal for undisclosed reasons via social media during Florida’s spring training camp last March. That did not happen, though, as Mazzccua eventually deleted his post and assumed a starting role on UF’s offensive line for the 2023 campaign.
