Ryan Williams, a five-star receiver, has de-committed from Alabama.
A high-profile Auburn recruit has dropped out of Alabama.
Ryan Williams, a five-star wide receiver in the 2024 class, has dropped his commitment to Alabama, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett. He will pay a formal visit to the Tigers later this month.
Hugh Freeze and the Tigers have been working hard to convince Williams to leave Alabama, where he has been committed since October 2022. They’ve already moved fellow five-star receiver Perry Thompson away from Alabama.
Williams caught 88 catches for 1,641 yards and 24 touchdowns, ran for 700 yards and 15 scores on 57 attempts (12.3 yards per carry), returned two punts for touchdowns, and passed for a touchdown while guiding his high school to a state championship.
According to 247Sports, Williams is a dynamic playmaker who has a “nuclear explosion out of cuts” and “projects as a high-major impact player with high-round NFL Draft upside.”
Former Alabama receiver Calvin Ridley has been compared to an NFL player by a national scout.
Williams has the potential to be exceptional wherever he ends up. If the Tigers can persuade him to leave the Tide, Auburn will have three five-star receivers in its 2024 recruiting class.
