The Chicago Bears are signing Ottawa Redblacks linebacker Douglas Coleman III, per Aaron Wilson.

The second-year man from Texas Tech played in 17 games for Ottawa in 2023, amassing 60 defensive tackles, four sacks, three interceptions and two touchdowns. The six-foot-one, 200-pound linebacker played in five games with the team in 2022, putting up 18 tackles and one sack.

Prior to making his way up to the CFL, the 25-year-old Coleman spent four seasons with the Red Raiders. He suited up in 45 games, making 25 starts. He finished his collegiate career with 128 total tackles and 11 interceptions.

Coleman also spent time with the Denver Broncos when he was signed as an undrafted free agent in 2020 but was waived during final roster cuts.

The Bears finished with a 7-10 record in 2023 after losing their season finale 17-9 to the Green Bay Packers on January 7.
