Notre Dame has added another strong pickup to its 2024 transfer portal class by landing a commitment from Marshall wide receiver/return man Jayden Harrison. The 5-11, 195-pound rising 5th-year senior is the 7th player to commit to Notre Dame in the transfer portal for the 2024 season. Harrison was Marshall’s leading receiver in 2023, hauling in 28 passes for 410 yards and a touchdown. He averaged 14.6 yards per catch. But it was in the return game that Harrison made his biggest impact throughout his career. The Tennessee native finished second in all of college football in 2023 with a 30.7 kick return average, and his two kick returns for touchdowns tied for second in all of college football. Harrison earned first-team All-America honors from the Football Writers Association of American, Walter Camp Football Foundation, Athlon Sports, CBS Sports, Fox Sports and Phil Steele. Harrison has averaged 25.4 on 60 career kick returns, including three for touchdowns. He has also caught 72 passes for 794 yards for four more touchdowns as a wide receiver or the Thundering Herd. The 2023 season was his best, as Harrison set team highs in catches and yards. Notre Dame’s Jadarian Price averaged 34.4 yards per kick return in 2023, but he didn’t have enough return attempts to qualify for the top spot. In 2024, however, Price is expected to become a much bigger part of the running back rotation, and he’s expected to see a huge jump in touches on offense. If Harrison can win the kick return job that would allow Price to focus more and more of his attention on being part of an elite running back group with Jeremiyah Love and Gi’Bran Payne.
